I have nothing to do with Chettinad Cement: Muthiah
Former BCCI president A.C. Muthiah revealed to The Hindu here on Saturday that he had nothing to do with Chettinad Cement.
The Chennai-based cement firm is reported to have purchased the BCCI’s invitation-to-tender document to buy one of the two temporary IPL franchises on offer for two years
Although Muthiah and N. Srinivasan, both former BCCI bosses, have been at loggerheads, the former in an exclusive chat said he had no stake in Chettinad Cement.
“All these reports about me being involved with Chettinad Cement are not true. I am only a trustee in M.A.M. Ramaswamy’s trust. My role does not extend beyond that.”
The confusion could have arisen because Chettinad Cement is headed by Muthiah’s namesake M.A.M.R. Muthiah who was Ramaswamy’s foster son.
The relations between Ramaswamy and M.A.M.R. Muthiah have been strained with the former publicly disowning the latter as his foster son in June this year.
A.C. Muthiah told this newspaper, “You should talk to M.A.M.R. Muthiah. He could give you a clearer picture.”
The Hindu has learnt from reliable sources that Chettinad Cement has indeed bought the forms. Whether it will make a bid is another matter. But then, A.C. Muthiah has no role to play in this.
