TERI hits back, calls all allegations false and baseless
Alleging that she had been “mentally, professionally and financially” distressed at The Energy and Resources Institute (TERI) after she accused climate scientist R.K. Pachauri, then Director-General, of molesting her, the complainant in the case has quit the think tank.
While in her letter she accused the organisation of treating her in the worst possible manner and failing to uphold her interests as an employee, TERI hit back by calling all allegations false and baseless.
Talking to The Hindu , the victim’s lawyer Prashant Mendiratta said that TERI by way of suspending the accused could have done much more but chose to target his client instead.
Asked if that was the case, why did she choose to wait this long, Mr. Mendiratta said gradually she lost hope.
It was as if she was being punished for being molested. She was disappointed with the way TERI handled the case. They changed her profile without her consent and she sent her resignation.
In a point by point rebuttal to most of these allegations, TERI issued a statement, which said that not only the Institute has been completely fair and totally neutral in the matter but also “accorded special privileges to the complainant and acceded to all her demands.”
In her letter, the 29-year-old woman accused the organisation of treating her in the worst possible manner and failing to uphold her interests as an employee
