Five model schools will be opened in each block of Uttarakhand to make quality education available to children in their neighbourhood, Chief Minister Harish Rawat said on Saturday.
Announcing this at a function to mark Bal Diwas, the birth anniversary of Jawaharlal Nehru, Mr Rawat said these model schools being set up in each block as an experiment will be equipped with all facilities and stop guardians from moving to big cities for the education of their wards.
The Chief Minister underlined the need for guardians to provide a stress-free atmosphere to children at home so that they grow up in a natural and healthy manner.
He asked educationists to think on ways to lighten the load of books on children’s shoulders.
Remembering Nehru’s love for children, the Chief Minister said the former Prime Minister could understand the essential disposition and language of children better than anyone and that was the reason why he came to be affectionately called “Chacha Nehru.” -- PTI
