Probe has revealed that an Uzbek woman, who had gone missing from Kotla Mubarakpur in September, was murdered and her body was found and cremated by Haryana Police without establishing the identity.
Delhi Police suspect trafficking angle and have held a man in connection with the incident. A police source added that it was through human intelligence that led them to Haryana.
The partially-burnt body of the woman, who had gone missing from Delhi on September 24, was found in Samalkha police station area in Panipat the following day.
“The body was stuffed in a bag and set on fire to destroy the evidence. The body was found behind the farmhouse of former MLA Kartar Singh Badana on September 25 morning, after a few men working in the fields nearby noticed it and informed the police,” said Samalkha DSP Gorakhpal Rana.
Mr. Rana said that a broken bottle of wine with stains of blood was seized from the spot. Also there were impressions of tyres at the scene where the body was found.
Mr. Rana told The Hindu that a FIR was registered in this connection under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code and the details of the body were immediately uploaded on zonal integrated police network or ZIPNET. “We had no information about any woman having gone missing from Delhi. It was after we uploaded the information on ZIPNET that the Delhi Police contacted us yesterday [on Sunday],” said Mr. Rana.
