We bowled well as a unit: Arvind
PUNE, Dec 2, 2015, DHNS:
Praising his team’s bowling performance, left-arm pacer S Arvind said that Karnataka did well to pick wickets at regular intervals.
“We bowled well as a unit. We kept striking at regular intervals and never gave the Maharashtra batsmen the opportunity to gain control,” said Arvind, who was the most successful bowler for the host, with figures of three for 53.
Ahead of the second day, Arvind asserted that Karnataka are in a good position. “We have a very good batting line-up and currently we hold the upper hand in the match and our aim is to build a strong first innings lead.”
On a surface tipped to be batting friendly, Maharashtra were left clueless against the Karnataka fast bowlers.
Speaking about the pitch, Arvind observed that the wicket was a true one, assisting both batting and bowling. “The wicket is flat but there is odd bounce for the bowlers. We hit the right areas and got the reward. The surface can assist the bowlers if they ball on the right areas,” Arvind explained.
After their previous game against Delhi, it is the second match in the season where Karnataka went in with their four first choice pacers and Arvind said it is a good sign for the team. “We (pacers) missed some bowlers due to injury. It was nice to operate in tandem. We like to keep things tight and put pressure on the batsmen right from the start,” said Arvind.
Ankit Bawane’s lone battle helped Maharashtra survive an implosion and the 22-year-old gave complete credit to the Karnataka bowlers for their good show.
“Our batsmen tried hard to apply themselves and score runs, but it was very good (bowling) from Karnataka. We got out to good bowling than bad batting,” said Bawne.
