Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public distribution Choudhary Zulfkar Ali informed this here while inaugurating a new CA&PD office complex at Baramulla on Saturday, an official spokesman said on Sunday.
He said that under the NFS Act, five kg of foodgrains would be given per soul at subsidised rates.
The new Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Department office at Baramulla has been constructed at a cost of Rs 80 lakh.
The Minister appreciated the role of department, saying the newly-constructed complex will aid in effective service delivery.
Healso sanctioned Rs one crore for the construction of a Gujjar hostel at Baramulla. He said land has already been identified for the purpose and the work will start soon.
Stressing on the officers to work with efficiency and transparency, Mr. Ali said: “Ration distribution should be done as per the fixed quota with effective, timely and transparent distribution, so that the general public do not face any inconvenience.” PTI
