To mark Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru’s 125{+t}{+h}birth anniversary, a musical symphony will be organised at Nehru Park on November 14. The four-hour event, which will see a number of musical influences coming together, will begin with a Vedic mantrochharan by Panini Kanya Mahavidyalaya (Varanasi). The Mahavidyalaya follows a gurukul system to instruct girls in the Vedas, Sanskrit grammar, Indian philosophy, in addition to classical music. Also among the line-up is a recital by Carnatic vocalist Aruna Sairam from Chennai, a sufiana qawwali by Ustad Chand Afzal, followed by singer Sonu Nigam ending the evening with pop music from Nehru’s era.
