The special investigation team (SIT) has submitted charge sheets to the Lokayukta court against five persons in three cases of illegal mining.
The charge sheets were submitted against Gem Laboratories, Zeenat Transport Company and SameeraTRADING
Company in the last week of October.
Gem Laboratories had exported 12,500 metric tonnes (MT) of ore without licences, causing a loss of Rs 2.11 crore to the exchequer, the charge sheet says. The charge sheet names Lingaraj and Sharath Patil of the company.
The SIT has submitted the charge sheet against managing partner Syed Ahmed in the case against Zeenat Transport Company, which has been accused of selling 4,000 MT of ore without licence, causing a loss of Rs 72 lakh to the exchequer.
Charge sheets have been filed against Sajja Wahab and Abdul Wahab of SameeraTRADING COMPANY, which is said to have sold 2,000 MT of ore without permits, said Charan Reddy, the IGP of the SIT.
More than 60 FIRs have so far been filed in cases related to illegal mining. A total of 14 investigative reports have been filed in the court. The charge sheets have been filed based on three of these
reports.
