Himachal Pradesh Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh on Wednesday announced immediate relief of Rs 1.50 crore for fire victims of Kotla village in Kullu district, and also granted Rs 50 lakh for restoration of ancient temples destroyed in the blaze.
About 100 wooden houses were gutted and over 200 persons were rendered homeless in the fire that broke out in the village on November 15. Hoverer, no loss of human life or livestock was reported.
The Chief Minister assured all possible assistance for rehabilitation of the village.
He exhorted the villagers to renovate and re-build the ancient temple in conformity with traditional hill architecture.
“I am deeply pained over the incident as large number of families had been rendered homeless. The government would leave no stone unturned to rehabilitate them,” Mr. Singh said.
“The victims will be provided adequate relief as per the provisions of the relief manual, besides other things of daily use,” he said.
He said that a proper mechanism would be followed for laying water pipes, sewerage, electric poles and other facilities in Kotla village.
Mr. Singh advised people not to construct the houses wall to wall and also not to keep the fodder in the houses which make the houses fire-prone.-PTI
