Hooda booked for irregularities in plots' allotment

The Haryana Vigilance Bureau on Saturday registered an FIR against two-time former chief minister Bhupinder Singh Hooda and others in connection with the irregularities in the allotment of industrial plots at Panchkula near here.
The move to allot high-priced industrial plots at “throwaway” prices was marred with allegations of gross nepotism and unfair practices with the kin of many of the powers-that-be benefiting in the transaction. A former IAS officer, D P S Nagpal, and two officials of the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA), which is the allotting agency, were also booked by the bureau on Saturday in the criminal case.
The decision in this regard was taken by Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar. It has been decided that the matter be then referred to the CBI for an independent probe. Hooda is already facing two CBI inquiries.
He is in a tough spot following charges of favouring Sonia Gandhi’s son-in-law Robert Vadra in the DLF-Vadra land deal and for giving prime land to Associated Journals Limited (AJL) at “throwaway” price.
Among the beneficiaries was Renu Hooda, the wife of former chief minister’s nephew; Manjot Kaur, daughter-in-law of former Punjab and Haryana high court judge; Nandita Hooda, wife of former senior additional advocate general Narender Hooda; Mona Beri, daughter-in-law of former OSD to Hooda; Pardeep Kumar, son of Hooda’s former secretary Singh Ram; and K P S Sandhu, a family member of former Kurukshetra University V-C Lt Gen DDS Sandhu (retd) and others.
