Four from DK  perish in Saudi fire accident

Four persons among the many who lost their lives in a fire mishap at a petrochemical factory at Jubail in Saudi Arabia on Saturday, hail from in and around Mangaluru.

They have been identified as Vincent Monteiro (36) from Adyarpadav near Neermarga, Ashraf (30) from Haleyangady, Bhasker Poojary from Bajpe and Balakrishna Poojary from Vamanjoor.

Monteiro was supposed to visit Mangaluru on April 16 (the day of the mishap), but postponed his visit due to family preoccupation. 

He was planning to get married next month. He had been working in Saudi for the past four years. According to his brother, it may take 12 to 15 days for the body to arrive at Mangaluru.

Ashraf’s employment in Saudi was confirmed only 11 months ago. He was looking forward to visit his family in June this year.

Bhasker Poojary of Konchar near Bajpe too has lost his life, according to Bajpe police. However, details about his family members were not available. 

Meanwhile, Lavanya, wife of Balakrishna Poojary of Vamanjoor said that according to her information, her husband Poojary is grievously injured in the mishap.
