Gadkari announces Rs 65k road projects in AP

The residual state of Andhra Pradesh would get Rs 65,000 crore national highways special package that would include new projects, ongoing ones and realignments.
Announcing the package here, Union Road Transport and Highways MinisterNitin Gadkari said the projects would take off before December 2016.
“We are announcing a Rs 20,000, 200 kilometres, eight lane Access Control Express highway as an outer Ring Road around the new capital,” Gadkari said.
“I request the state government to speedup land acquisition and prepare detailed project report so that we can begin the project by December 2016,” he added.
The project includes laying Anantapur-Guntur, Guntur-Rajahmundry, Kurnool-Dornakal and Anantapur-Rajahmundry-Vijayawada roads, besides further 620 kilometres of new national highways worth Rs 1350 crore.
Gadkari also said his ministry would create a regional office for the national highways authority.
