Veer stun Bengaluru Yodhas

In a cliffhanger of a tie, local favourites Bengaluru Yodhas went down 3-4 to a spirited Dilli Veer side during their final league fixture of the Pro Wrestling League at the Koramangla Indoor Stadium here on Wednesday.
The result was inconsequential to both teams and while Dilli would have been looking to end their campaign on a winning note, the Yodhas needed some momentum going in to the semifinals.
Yodhas and Veer were at loggerheads right from the start of the match and couldn't be separated till the final bout, in which Navruzov Ikhtiyor of Uzbekistan thrashed favourite Bajrang Punia 10-1 in the 65kg men's category and clinched the match for the Delhi side.
Earlier, Dilli, who won the toss and blocked Navjot Kaur, began well with 2015 World Chmpionship silver medallist Erdenebat Bekhbayar scoring a 7-0 victory over Sandeep Tomar in the men's 57kg category. Tomar's poor form continued as he did not seem to have been up for the bout and was unable to counter his Mongolian opponent's attacking manoeuvres.
Dilli soon took a 2-0 match lead after Ukraine's Liliya Horishna defeated Lalita Sherawat 11-6 in the women's 53kg category. The Yodhas' first win came in the third bout when Georgian Modzmanashvili Davit blanked Krishan Kumar 10-0 in the 125kg men's category, a bout that lasted just 56 seconds.
The home side then levelled things up at 2 apiece as Yulia Ratkevich edged Dilli's Yesilirmak Elif Jale 3-1 in the 58kg women's category.
It was then time for crowd favourite and Yodhas' skipper Narsingh Yadav to step on to the mat and he did not let the audiences down.
In a defensive bout, he came up trumps 8-4 against compatriot Dinesh Kumar in the men's 74 kg category.
With this win, Bengaluru took a slender 3-2 lead in the match but the sixth bout levelled things again. Veer then won the final match to script their first win.
