Citizens for Change – signed undertakings
Deccan Herald had launched the ‘Citizens for Change’ initiative ahead of the BBMP elections on August 22 to provide people a platform to raise their problems and get a signed undertaking from the candidates that crucial civic issues related to their wards would be resolved within a time frame.
This agenda for change is an action plan to get every candidate extremely serious about their electoral promises. As part of the initiative, Residents’ Welfare Associations (RWAs) were asked to list the 10 most prominent issues in their wards; fix a deadline for the candidates to resolve the specified problems if elected, and get a signed undertaking from the ward’s BJP, Congress andJanata Dal (Secular) candidates in the prescribed format.
Several RWAs have obtained such an undertaking from the candidates and sent the filled-in forms to DeccanHerald. As announced earlier, Deccan Herald is putting these commitments in public domain.
