Fresh encounter breaks out in J&K

A fresh gun fight erupted in Manigah forest area of North Kashmir’s Kupwara district on Friday morning with militants and Army personnel exchanging a heavy fire, reports said
The area is under lockdown for more than two weeks with Army and para commandos searching for the militants who gave them the slip at least thrice in a week’s time.
On November 14, the militants had killed Colonel Santosh Mahadik in a brief gun battle before giving the security forces the slip.
A police officer told Deccan Herald that the contact was established in the Haji Naka area of Manigah around 8:30 am on Friday.
“A heavy exchange of fire is going on since today morning between the militants and joint teams of the Army and police,” he said, adding added additional reinforcements are being
deployed in the area to
prevent the militants from escaping.
