An Uzbek woman on tourist visa was allegedly abducted from South Extension this September

Despite several rounds of assurances from those they have approached so far in India, the family of an Uzbek woman on tourist visa who was allegedly abducted at South Extension this September, seem to be losing hope.
In the last 37 days, they have approached their country’s embassy, the Chief Minister of Delhi and the top brass of the Delhi Police. They have been regularly visiting South Delhi’s Kotla Mubarakpur police station where the abduction case was registered.
But, their pursuit has yielded little results. Talking to The Hindu on Sunday, the girl’s mother Shenaz (name changed) broke down as she walked out from the police station without a clue for the 30th time. The family is convinced that the girl has been pushed into human trafficking and has evenSHARED details of some of people they suspect of being behind her abduction.
She also claims to have witnessed the abduction from Tashkent on September 26 as her daughter was speaking via video calling mobile application Skype when someone gagged her mouth and took away the mobile phone.
That was the last time the family had heard from the girl who had come to India in August according to them and was due to return on October 2.
They allege that a driver known to them was also present with their daughter when she was picked up and he did not bother to call the police control room delaying their response.
The family also accused the police of treating the case as a missing person’s complaint and not a case of abduction despite being conveyed repeatedly that she was picked up against her will.
Police contest this claim but are not able to provide any clear word on the whereabouts of the girl. They admit the fact that there has been no contact between the girl and the family since the fateful day. They have carried on their journey despite the odds. A medical emergency kept the mother away from the police station.
But post her discharge from the Moolchand Hospital where she was taken to after being hit by Syncope (a temporary loss of consciousness caused by a fall in blood pressure), she resumed her “struggle.”
But, there are factors which are beyond their control and it is here where time seems to be running out for them. After one extension last month, they have now been allowed to stay in the country till November 20.
