“It also highlights our complete domination ever since we paired up as a team in March this year,” said Sania.
Be on top
“Trying to stay at No. 1 in the world for as long as possible and to continue to do well in the Majors is what we constantly aim for and we could not have hoped for a better finish to the year 2015 which has been truly phenomenal,” she added.
Reflecting on winning the WTA title last year, partnering Cara Black, and comparing it to Sunday’s win, Sania reminded that they had played two very tight matches in the quarterfinals and the semifinals before breezing past their opponents in the final.
“But, this year, all our wins were emphatic and we dominated all the matches without dropping a set,” she said.
Team effort
The fact that Hingis said Sania “just played out of her mind by being everywhere on the court and getting everything back and playing incredible tennis” was a tribute to the 28-year-old’s brilliance.
“We really enjoy our bonding – both on and off the court.
“I repeat that the chemistry between us is something which we can’t describe in words.
“ It is a team effort no doubt,” Sania said.
Great run
Sania can take pride in the fact that ever since she qualified for the WTA Finals for the first time last year, she has won eight consecutive matches in the prestigious year-ending tournament.
“This is something I am really proud of and I am glad that the efforts of my parents and the support of my friends and well-wishers have paid off in such a wonderful fashion.”
Sania signed off, saying she hopes to continue the dream run next year too.
